Stevens Pass Powder December 21st 2010 - Solstice
I had a late start today due to a bit of work but managed to rally up to Stevens Pass for 3 runs in the death chutes. Still a little thin in the chutes but you can get through them easy enough. The snow remains high quality blower powder where it's untouched. I did manage to get inside the ski area today and the packed runs are offering really good edge-able skiing and quite carvable. Here are a couple images of the Birdman on the 2010 Winter Solstice and the shortest day of 2010!
Here is a bit from Wikipedia : A solstice is an astronomical event that happens twice each year when the Sun's apparent position in the sky reaches its northernmost or southernmost extremes.

Stevens Pass Powder December 20th 2010
This past Sunday Erik Svege and I got a chance to check out the slack county around Stevens Pass and we found high quality snow. The high country seems to be transforming from an early-season snowpack into a mid-season snowpack very quickly. The skiing is about as good as it gets with deep soft and easy skiing on all aspects. Temps are staying low so the skiing should remain high end for the foreseeable future. The forecast shows more light snows followed by more significant snowfall towards the end of the weekend. Here are a few images of Erik enjoying the day!

Stevens Pass Powder December 15th 2010
I had the good forturne of teaming up with long time local Stevens Pass shredder Rob Egdamin on Dec 15th 2010 for a few deep runs. He is working with the Euro ski company White Dot and he's doing some Cascade style ski testing. Here are a few images of Rob testing his new skis.

Ski Stevens Pass - Early Season
It's still early season but with all this snow it feels like mid-winter. It's time to get the ski legs back and head to the mountains. Here are a few images from the week of December 13th - 17th at Stevens Pass.

Early Season Skiing
Yes! We got a chance to ski a couple runs at Stevens Pass today and we found some great snow along with a dash of sunshine. Here is a shot of the Birdman in action on the Backside, Dec 6th, 2010. This was just before the big grey clouds from the west ominously swept over the top of us. Sounds like a fair bit of new snow coming by Wednesday. I also heard rumors of the dreaded Pinapple Express heading our way...
