Glen Plake Stevens Pass Down Home Tour 2011
Master ski ambassadors Glen and Kimberly Plake rolled into the Cascades for a visit to Stevens Pass during their 2011 Down Home Tour. Stevens Pass just happened to be in a very good powder cycle known locally as miracle March! Our very own master skier Jack Soukup introduced Plake to his first turns on Cowboy Ridge. Jack was excited to share one of his favorite runs with GP, 2nd Rock Face! I would say a most exciting first run for Plake! His 2nd run was another Cowboy Mtn favorite, Sidewinder. After that they finished the day skiing the area's classic lift accessed runs in good powder conditions.
For the Plake's 2nd ski day at the pass we headed east on the ridge to explore north facing slopes that offered up fine powder tree skiing. After we successfully navigated the deep mandatory untracked hippy glades we arrived at the road to find a Stevens Shuttle waiting! A quick ride back up to the area and another adventure out the ridge ended a great Stevens Pass tour for these all-stars!
Testing snow quality...

It's Good!

Glen and Steve... or is it, Steve and Glen...?!?

Jesse Stone and GP shred Wild Katz!

Kimberly Plake finishes an area classic, Wild Katz.

GP and Birdman are happy with the skiing conditions.

A hike out east in search of untouched snow while Armond checks upper elevation wind patterns on his Ipad.
Armond skis with a collapsible flying machine strapped to his back!

Birdman, Jesse and GP get ready to ski while Adam grabs a quick self portrait.

Steve Frink goes retro... or is it new school?

Plake and Armond shred Super Fat Central and I think that is Rex's pow spray in the top right corner.

Finished one more run out the ridge and ran into this little guy. He was comfortable on the vertical tree trunk.

Ryan, Jack, The Crew and Clay! Huge thanks to Glen and Kimberly for their visit to Stevens Pass on March 15-16th 2011!

Congratulations to Glen for his recent induction into the Ski Hall of Fame in Ishpeming Michigan!
Stevens Pass Jan 31st 2011
Both Rob (WhiteDot) Egdamin and myself saw sunshine was forecast for the Stevens Pass ski area on the last day of January 2011. There was also a fair bit of nice fresh powder too. We decided it would be a fine day to do a little shredding and take a few pics along the way. As it turned out the sun didn't turn out till after 4pm. We did our best in the fog and flat light but it was tricky to get a great shot this day. Here is an image that turned out more like an illustration. What do you think?

Stevens Pass - Skyline Ridge + Lichtenberg
With one more day of sunshine forecast for the Stevens Pass area I thought it appropriate to take advantage of the good light. I called Birdman up and told him I had a plan for the day. He happily accepted my invitation and we were skiing up hill at 6:15am on Jan 3rd 2011. We skied across the street from Stevens Pass for the 1st run and then headed over to Lichtenberg Mountain for our 2nd run. We actually found steller snow on the Lichtenschlopper and were quite pleased with the run. Here are some images of Birdman going full wingspan!

Stevens Pass - Swath + Cirque Jan 2nd 2011
Rex Flake, Erik Svege and I headed up the White Pine area of Stevens Pass on the 2nd day of 2011. We were looking for never ending fields of the softest snow and we found never ending fields of wind-board. I couldn't figure out where all the good snow was? It was there yesterday... It got blown into something far different than what we were expecting but hey snow quality is overated anyway. It's just good to be out with great friends and getting in some high quality mountain time.
Here are a few images from the day. We skied a Swath and finished with a Cirque. Thanks for the great day guys!

Stevens Pass December 30th 2010
December 30th was one of those special days. The snow was so good that it doesn't really get any better. These are the days that I can actually ski pretty good, you know when it's so easy even grandma starts to jump around on some of the little booters. After grandma ditched me to hike Cowboy I ran into some good friends and we skied this most excellent day with large smiles all around. High Flying Rob (WhiteDot) Egdamin was there, Scott Rinckenberger too! At the end of the day I ran into Rex who was doing his normal jogging on the ridges.
Here are a few of the images from the day.
Scott goes for the goal!

Rob's morning coffee.

Rex always out in front waiting for you...

Rex finishing off the day in the deep blue.
